UTPB offers seminar

BY JOCELYN FOSTER

UTPB's Small Business Development Center will offer an "Introduction to QuickBooks" class from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 26 and 28 at its CEED building.

Joan Love-Davis, certified QuickBooks instructor, will lead a class through QuickBooks with a PowerPoint presentation and encourage the class to ask questions or contribute to the discussion. She said the course will not include individuals working on computers.

"I learn something in every class because I pick up tips from people - that's the advantage of a seminar," Love-Davis said.

Love-Davis will introduce a sample company as a learning device, building it from bottom up with the software. She said when finished with the two sessions attendees will be fully functional in QuickBooks.

There's been a demand for the class from several members of the community.

"We've had a lot of questions from clients about how to keep track of their finances through a computer, as well as a lot of requests," Jack Cornwell, small business program coordinator, said.
