Sunday Brunch at Zucchi’s to benefit UTPB

A fundraiser to benefit UT Permian Basin is sure to leave a smile on your lips! The second annual Sunday Brunch at Zucchi’s is planned from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23.

A delicious brunch and drinks will be served during the event. Estate jewelry by Nelda Lee, Inc. will be for sale and there will be door prizes and a raffle as well.  Beginning at 12:30 p.m., guests will also enjoy Country and Western music in the Pride Family Tradition by Stephen Pride, brother of recording artist Charley Pride.

Tickets for the event are $75, and the amount includes a $55 donation to UTPB.  Tickets are available at Zucchi’s, Pinkie’s, Nelda Lee, Inc., and the UTPB Institutional Advancement Office. Please make checks payable to UTPB.

University of Texas of the Permian Basin Director of Student Life Rolando Diaz wrote ‘Tales from the Tortilla Curtain’ about 10 years ago. The book talks about a fictitious fence being built along the American-Mexican border.

The dream of many immigrant is that, someday, the U.S. Congress passes a comprehensive immigration reform.

In the last two years more people have become interested in the immigration issue.

Most people have something to say about the issue now, especially after the U.S. government announced the possibility of building a fence between the U.S.-Mexican border as a way to strengthen national security and control the influx of illegal immigrants.

Moving Forward
The University of Texas of the Permian Basin will be moving forward with design plans for a new science and technology building after the UT System Board of Regents approved $56 million in design and development costs for the project at its Thursday meeting in Austin.

The project will be paid for through Tuition Revenue Bonds (TRBs) and Permanent University Funds (PUF).

The new building is the second phase in the university's Science and Technology Complex, which also includes renovations to the Industrial Technology Building, which are nearing completion, and renovations to the Mesa Building.
