The University of Texas of the Permian Basin announced that enrollment is up for the seventh year, with 3,586 students enrolled. Last school year, 3,484 students were enrolled. “These are preliminary, unofficial numbers, but we are very excited to see so many fresh faces here on campus,” President David Watts said. “From classrooms to the courts, this is a vibrant university.” |

Youth forum teaches students about leadership By Ruth Campbell Midland Reporter-Telegram Leandra Gilmore thought Wednesday was going to be dull. But things turned out otherwise. The Midland High School sophomore was one of 26 students from her school attending the John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership School forum at University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Gilmore and her peers are in the AVID program at Midland High. Students from Odessa, Greenwood, Rankin, Marathon, Denver City, Odessa Career Center, McCamey, Iraan and Kermit also attended. |

Lady Falcons drop conference opener 2-0 to St. Mary’s The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Lady Falcons came out strong in the first half of their season opener against St. Mary’s. However, the second half was all St. Mary’s as the Rattlers scores two goals to win 2-0.
UTPB is now 1-3-2 (0-1) on the season.
In the first half the Lady Falcons shocked St. Mary’s, out shooting the Rattlers 10-5.
St. Mary’s came out firing in the second half and at the 51:52 mark Christian Mercedes split two defenders and booted a 20 yarder just over the keepers reach to put the Rattlers up 1-0. |
