HACU Scholarships HACU has announced the HACU Scholarship Program for the 2008-09 academic year. A total of more than $350,000 will be awarded to eligible students who demonstrate a financial need, meet program criteria, and attend a HACU-member institution at the time scholarship awards are made. Scholarship information and online application is available at https://scholarships.hacu.net/applications/applicants/. Deadline for applications and supporting documentation is May 23, 2008. Scholarships awards will be made in August.

Radio personality to air his 10,000th show in February Ruth Campbell Midland Reporter-Telegram 12/29/2007
BIG SPRING -- Tumbleweed Smith has come full circle.
The first episode of his show, "The Sounds of Texas," aired Aug. 1, 1969 featuring actor Jon Voight. The 10,000th segment, set to air Feb. 7, also includes the Oscar-winning thespian.
Smith, whose real name is Bob Lewis, came across Voight while covering the filming of "Midnight Cowboy" in Big Spring. Some of those broadcasts wound up on NBC radio. |

Call for judges, Permian Basin Regional Science Fair
Colleagues,
This message should be of special interest to the faculty in the sciences, math, and engineering, but all interested faculty are welcome.
UTPB will again be hosting the Permian Basin Regional Science Fair, which will be SATURDAY, MARCH 8, 2008, in the UTPB GYM, from 9:00 am to about 12 noon, and again we are calling on interested and willing faculty to serve as judges for the 400 or so projects we are expecting from students in grades 3 through 12. |
