A welcome challenge
UTPB tenor chosen to perform in Chicago area

Trenton Davis welcomes a good challenge every now and again - even if it means memorizing 127-page requiems.
"I've been able to develop into singing that," Davis said.
The 19-year-old, a humanities sophomore at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, came to the university with no vocal training. In the three semesters he's worked with music lecturer and voice teacher Nyela Basney, he's naturally improved his tenor voice.

$54 million building
UTPB breaks ground on new science facility

Designers of UTPB's new $54 million Science and Technology Complex didn't forget about the snakes.
In addition to six classrooms, 41 labs, 56 offices and three seminar rooms, the 70,000-square-foot building will feature a first-floor viewing area for the biology department's prized pets - a big draw for Odessa elementary students. |
