The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and Midland-Odessa’s Allegro Chorale and Orchestra, Inc. have teamed up to present “The Messiah Project,” a full performance of Handel’s “Messiah.” The performance is scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at CrossRoads Fellowship Church, 6901 E. Sate Hwy. 191 in Odessa. Professional orchestra members will be part of the project, but UTPB Music Program Director Dan Keast said area singers are needed. |

Baseball: Falcons take step forward in 2008

The UTPB baseball team proved that despite scholarship limitations, a team can be successful at the NCAA Division II level. The Falcons set school records in victories, conference victories and home runs while finishing with the best home record in the Heartland Conference. They did all of that, despite having just 3 1/2 scholarships to offer. |

Randall's Clark signs with UTPB Hillarey Clark, a Randall forward known for her speed, signed an agreement Wednesday to play soccer for the University of Texas-Permian Basin.
Clark joins an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Heartland Conference and went 7-9-2 last season.
